Silly as it may seem, web page designers often seem to forget to include a link back to the home page. It’s easy to overlook.

A common convention is to put the company logo at the top left of a site and link the logo back to the home page.

While this convention is understood by many, we’ve seen lots of users who never think to click there, and if you don’t have a link labeled “Home,” they spend enormous amounts of time looking for it.

Always provide a clear, explicit Home button. We frequently put a “Home” label right below the company logo to help reinforce the convention.

Even if you don’t have a logo there, stick the Home button toward the top left, right where people expect it to be.
